About the Event

Wax Lyrical: Singapore Classics is a special edition of Swee Lee’s monthly high-fidelity listening residency, celebrating the Singaporean artists, albums and stories that have shaped our music scene.

Exclusive as a part of Swee Lee’s 80 Years celebration, the series takes over The Great Hall each month through the end of the year, exploring a different corner of Singapore music through the records and people behind it.

For our first edition, we’re listening to Singapore Dreaming by Subsonic Eye — front to back — followed by a live conversation with the band. Together, we’ll go deeper into the album: how it came together, the ideas and experiences that shaped it, Subsonic Eye’s creative process, and their own story within Singapore’s evolving music scene.

For 80 years, Swee Lee has been part of countless stories in music across South East Asia. Wax Lyrical: Singapore Classics is a chance to spend time with some of those stories and with the artists continuing to write what comes next out of Singapore.
