American punk veterans X have shared the song “Delta 88 Nightmare,” their first new recording in more than 30 years.
The accompanying clip focuses on vocalist Exene Cervenka’s son Henry Mortensen and her niece Carolyn Allen as they frolic and dance in the backyards and streets of Los Angeles. The video is intercut with black and white footage of the area, an ode to the younger days and memories of X’s members.
According to Rolling Stone, X returned to the studio earlier in the year, and recorded several tracks for a seven-inch, on which “Delta 88 Nightmare” appears. It arrives November 29 via Fat Possum Records.
Earlier in the year, the group reissued their four classic albums, Los Angeles (1980), Wild Gift (1981), Under the Big Black Sun (1982), and More Fun in the New World (1983).
