It’s always amazing when rock royalty covers rock royalty. And that’s exactly what happened at Riot Fest in Chicago over the weekend, when Weezer whipped out a cover of Blink-182’s smash hit “All the Small Things”.
It was a fitting tribute, since Rivers Cuomo and co. were filling in for Blink, who had to withdraw from Riot Fest due to drummer Travis Barker’s ongoing health issues. The pop punk titans were supposed to be one of the festival’s headliners, and Weezer made sure they were still part of the fun in spirit.
Everything that makes “All the Small Things” such a classic were present: the chugging guitars, the quintessential pop punk vocals, and plenty of singing along from the crowd too. No doubt the Blink trio would’ve been proud.
It’s actually not the first time Rivers has tackled “All the Small Things,” either: He recently played an unplugged cover of the song at a solo acoustic gig.
