Australian indie rocker Ruby Fields has released “REGO,” the second single to be lifted from her forthcoming debut album.
Fields’ latest single abounds with breathy melodies and infectious ’90s-style guitars. “REGO” dropped with a hilarious music video in which Fields gets a matching tattoo with a friend while on a wild night out partying in the guise of an elderly lady.
“I wrote ‘REGO’ one afternoon after reminiscing on my first share house with my best friend Erin,” Fields said in a statement. “[It] really made me think about how all those problems we thought we had were barely an issue. I wanted to write this song to exist again in those moments.”
Initially teased by Fields during a run of shows in Byron Bay at the end of last year, “REGO” follows her previous single “Pretty Grim.” Fields’ debut album was meant to arrive in 2020, she said, but the pandemic delayed its release. The full-length will follow her most recent EP Permanent Hermit, which landed in 2019.
