Watch Brittany Howard’s fiery cover of the Beatles’ “Revolution”

After getting five Grammy nods, the Alabama Shakes frontwoman takes to the ‘Colbert’ stage.

After receiving five Grammy nominations, Brittany Howard covered the Beatles “Revolution” live for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Though Howard, her band and backing vocalists—all dressed in bright red—took care to maintain distance from each other on stage, it didn’t stop them from delivering a fiery rendition of the White Album cut that showed off the Alabama Shakes leader’s powerful pipes.

It was a striking way to celebrate five nods for the 2021 Grammys, including one for Best Rock Performance that put Howard in a historic slate of nominees: for the first time ever, every nominee in that category was a woman or female-fronted band.

Howard was nominated for her debut solo album Jaime, which featured the tracks “13th Century Metal,” “He Loves Me” and “History Repeats.” The single “Stay High” received two nods: Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song.
