Bartees Strange recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to perform his song “Boomer.”
In the pre-recorded performance, Strange and his band rocked out in a pastel-themed room decorated with eccentric ornaments like human rib cages and skulls, just to name a few.
Prior to the performance, the Washington musician took to Instagram to express his excitement for his late-night television debut: “Excited to play Boomer w/ the boys tonight on @latenightseth. Steal your grandmothers Hulu live. Tell your ex you love them, so you can get their dad’s cable login. Do whatever you have to do to watch us play boomer. It’s gonna be a trip. thanks @sethmeyersfor having us on. #jazz.”
“Boomer” was the lead single of Strange’s critically acclaimed debut album Live Forever, which was released last year. It was lauded for its eclectic mix of various genres such as arena rock, folk and rap. The performance also came days after Strange’s collaboration with producer and multi-instrumentalist Lorenzo Wolff on a cover of Judee Sill’s “The Pearl.”
