Thom Yorke has announced his new solo album, ANIMA. It will arrive next week with a short film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who previously collaborated with Radiohead on two music videos from their last album, A Moon Shaped Pool.
Yorke stars in the film, which is touted as “mind-bending visual piece,” according to the YouTube description of the film’s teaser. Both the album and the film—which is set to three songs from the LP—will be available June 27. The film will premiere on Netflix, with a limited pre-screening of the movie in select IMAX theaters.
ANIMA comes five years after Yorke’s last solo album, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes. The digital version of the album is nine tracks long, whereas the vinyl release will feature an additional track titled “Ladies & Gentlemen, Thank You for Coming.” Studious fans might recognize one of the songs from ANIMA’s tracklist, “Dawn Chorus,” an unreleased Radiohead track that has been floating around for a while now.
ANIMA will be released digitally June 27, while all physical formats ship from July 19. Watch the trailer for the film now:
