The Flaming Lips share trippy video for “How Many Times”

Their newest LP, ‘King’s Mouth,’ is now available to stream.

Psych rock outfit The Flaming Lips have dropped a video for “How Many Times,” a cut from their 15th studio album, King’s Mouth.

Directed by frontman Wayne Coyne, the psychedelic clip features the band’s members awash in rainbow colors, as they perform while standing behind triangular structures.

“How Many Times” is the first track from King’s Mouth to receive the visual treatment. The concept album, which also includes the single “Giant Baby,” tells the elaborate tale of a giant king who dies saving his people from an avalanche. Mick Jones of The Clash provided narration on several tracks.

According to a press release, the record was originally conceptualized as the soundtrack to Coyne’s art installation of the same name. In the installation, which was first displayed in 2017 in Portland, Oregon, viewers could enter a large metallic head meant to represent the giant king and experience a “music-driven LED light show.”

King’s Mouth initially arrived in April as a limited vinyl-only release in conjunction with Record Store Day, and is now available on all streaming platforms. It’s the Flaming Lips’ follow-up to 2017’s Oczy Mlody.
