The Black Keys’ hiatus has ended: The duo have returned with their first single in half a decade, “Lo/Hi.”

Recorded at singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach’s studio, the song is a more traditional take from The Black Keys, and is reminiscent of their pre-El Camino output. Whether “Lo/Hi” signals a new album on the horizon remains to be seen.

Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney have been keeping busy over the last five years. The former released work as a solo artist and as part of The Arcs, and also set up his Easy Eye Sound record label. Carney, on the other hand, has produced music by the likes of Tobias Jesso Jr and his fiancée Michelle Branch, and also wrote the theme for Netflix comedy BoJack Horseman.
