Slash drops new track “Driving Rain” with Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators

The track is a new single off the band’s upcoming LP, ‘Living the Dream.’

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators have unveiled a new single today, and it’s titled “Driving Rain.” It is the first single to drop from their upcoming album, Living the Dream—a follow-up to 2014’s World on Fire.

The track itself is a high-octane number that opens with Slash’s bluesy riff punctuated by Brent Fitz’s pounding drum beats. The song tells the story of a man who’s on the road trying to return home to help his addict lover. “To avoid all confusion / She said she’s been using / No, not again / Oh, but my fear of losing / The girl always gets me home,” Kennedy belts over the soaring leads. In classic rock ’n’ roll fashion, the band combine a great narrative with even better melodies.

Slash has shared in a statement about the track that he first performed the riff with the band while on tour for their 2014 album. “It’s a cool guitar part we ran through, and from that point forward the rest of the song started to come together in my mind while on the road.” It seems particularly fitting, considering the theme of the song.

If “Driving Rain” is any form of a signal, Living the Dream is going to be quite an album.
