Phoebe Bridgers releases new ‘Punisher’ cut “I See You”

Her sophomore solo LP will be out next month.

Indie star Phoebe Bridgers has released “I See You,” the third single from her upcoming sophomore album, Punisher.

“I See You” laments the demise of a once-beautiful relationship—an exquisite yet bleak track, just like many other songs in the Californian’s catalog.

“It’s about my break-up with my drummer,” Bridgers revealed in a press release. “We dated for a few years, made music every day, and were extremely codependent. We became like family to each other, so our breakup was extremely tough. But if this tells you anything about our relationship, we wrote this song together, just like everything else.”

Bridgers was set to support The 1975 on their North America tour and The National in Australia, but all of her touring plans have since been scuppered due to the coronavirus pandemic. For the near future, the musician is stuck playing in various rooms of her house. Her home-bound performance debut came in the form of her Jimmy Kimmel Live! bathroom set last month consisting of other Punisher singles, “Garden Song” and “Kyoto.”
