Pearl Jam make triumphant return with ‘Gigaton’

The rockers’ first full-length in over six years.

Influential rock band Pearl Jam have made their long-awaited return with Gigaton.

The 12-track record is the Eddie Vedder-fronted band’s first full-length release since 2013’s Lightning Bolt. They previewed the record, which was announced in January, with singles such as “Dance of the Clairvoyants,” “Superblood Wolfmoon” and “Quick Escape.”

“Making this record was a long journey. It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption,” guitarist Mike McCready said in a press release, according to Billboard. “Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times.”

Pearl Jam planned the release of Gigaton to coincide with a 17-date North American tour. However, the trek has since been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and will be rescheduled at a later date.
