Moon Duo have released “Lost Heads,” the follow-up single from their upcoming record, Stars Are the Light.

The tune calls upon the frenetic energy of ’70s funk and ’80s disco, but merges the two in a calm, subdued form of neo-psychedelia. Alternating guitar lines and languid vocals flourish throughout the track, building a hypnotizing undercurrent that makes you feel like you’re trapped in time forever.

In a press release, Moon Duo’s Sanae Yamaeda revealed that the new album signals a different sonic direction for the psych-rockers. “We have changed, the nature of our collaboration has changed, the world has changed, and we wanted the new music to reflect that,” Yamaeda said.

Moon Duo are set to release their newest record Stars Are the Light on September 27 via Sacred Bones.
