Maroon 5’s latest single “Girls Like You,” featuring Cardi B, is known for its laid-back, cruisy beat. But for the track’s remix, the Los Angeles-based band roped in multi-instrumentalist St Vincent to add her indie rock charm to the song. And it’s anything but chill.
It’s a bass-heavy arrangement—filled with clanging drums and fuzzy synths—that puts Cardi B’s fiery verse at the forefront while a chopped-up version of the Adam Levine-led chorus (“Girls like you / I need a girl like you”) repeats throughout the song. Even if you didn’t quite enjoy the original, this refreshing rendition makes it worth a listen.
