Japanese Breakfast release new song, “Essentially”

Japanese Breakfast have released a new song, “Essentially,” on W Records, the musical imprint of global hospitality brand W Hotels.

The woozy, yet danceable track is the result of Michelle Zauner and bandmate Craig Hendrix’s recording sessions in Bali, Indonesia—specifically, at the W Sound Suite at the W Bali hotel.

“We’d originally intended to record a different song we demoed out in Philly, but in classic us fashion decided to record something off the cuff once we got there,” Zauner explained in an Instagram post. “I usually record in cold studios, so Bali was a pretty glamorous change,” she added in a separate statement.
