Hear Soccer Mommy cover The Cars’ classic, “Drive”

SASAMI also contributes a System of a Down cover to Soccer Mommy’s single series.

Soccer Mommy—aka Sophie Allison—has released a cover of “Drive” by The Cars for her own charity single series on Bandcamp.

Allison’s chiming cover of the new wave classic closes out the eight-track project titled Soccer Mommy & Friends Singles Series. Another recent contribution comes from SASAMI, who delivered a haunting acoustic cover of “Toxicity” by System of a Down.

Jay Som, Beabadoobee and Andrew VanWyngarden also appear on the charity release, proceeds of which will be split equally from Oxfam’s COVID-19 relief fund and National Bail Out.

The release of the series’ last two songs comes just in time for Bandcamp Friday on July 3, when the digital platform will waive its commission to allow 100 percent of all payments to flow to artists and labels.

This Soccer Mommy release comes a few months after the release of her sophomore album, Color Theory, which featured the tracks “Circle the Drain,” “Yellow is the Color of Her Eyes” and “Lucy.”
