Sam Cohen—the former leader of Apollo Sunshine and Yellowbirds—has dropped “Man on Fire.” It’s a new single from his forthcoming album The Future’s Still Ringing in My Ears, which was co-produced by Danger Mouse.

With its prancing keyboard line, bluesy guitar licks and leisurely pace, “Man on Fire” echoes The Black Keys’ Brothers-era sound (on which Danger Mouse also served as an architect). It’s a deceptively smooth meditation on the destruction humanity wreaks upon the world. “Why do I imitate nature?” Cohen wonders in the opening lines. “Deny her authority / Came into this world a stranger / Expect that’s how I leave.”

The Future’s Still Ringing in My Ears arrives May 17. Stream “Man on Fire” here:
