Hear Kurt Vile cover the Rolling Stones’ “No Expectations”

He finally realized an arrangement he came up with almost two decades ago.

Kurt Vile has covered the Rolling Stones’ “No Expectations” for the Spotify Singles series.

It’s a slow rendition, even more stripped-down than the original, that sees the Philadelphia singer-songwriter making the most of his upper register—and his harmonica skills. Vile came up with the arrangement in his early 20s, he revealed on Twitter. “I hope Keith [Richards] and Mick [Jagger] hear it, actually… they should!” he added. “I love the way it turned out.”

Besides the Stones cover, Vile also performed an acoustic version of his own track, “Loading Zones,” from his recent album Bottle It In.
