Bruce Springsteen has shared “I’ll Stand by You,” a previously unreleased song that will soundtrack the new UK comedy-drama film Blinded by the Light.

According to a 2016 interview with BBC Radio 2’s Simon Mayo, the earnest piano ballad was originally submitted for a Harry Potter film but was not used in the end. “At some point I’d like to get it in a children’s movie,” The Boss quipped.

On the program, Springsteen explained that the song was “written for his eldest son,” and described it as “a big ballad that was very uncharacteristic” of his usual repertoire. “I know that here in the dark / Tomorrow can seem so very far away,” he croons on the track.

“I’ll Stand by You” has found a home in the soundtrack of the film Blinded by the Light, which tells the coming-of-age story of a British-Pakistani Muslim teenager whose life is altered after he stumbles upon Springsteen’s music. The movie also features ten of Springsteen’s other iconic tracks such as “Badlands” and “Born to Run.”

Springsteen recently dropped Western Stars, his 19th studio album in June. Listen to “I’ll Stand by You” here:
