Hear Angel Olsen’s haunting song, “Whole New Mess”

The title track of her upcoming album, a companion release to ‘All Mirrors.’

Angel Olsen has announced her new album Whole New Mess with the release of its haunting title track.

The upcoming album is a companion release to Olsen’s 2019 LP, the grandly orchestral All Mirrors. Most of the tracks on Whole New Mess are stripped-down, early iterations of the songs on All Mirrors—though they are not demos—and were recorded in a church-turned-recording studio in Anacortes, Washington, over the course of ten days.

“Whole New Mess” is one of two songs on the record that didn’t make it to All Mirrors. In a statement, Olsen said, “The song is a mental note to try and stay sane, keep healthy, remember to breathe wherever I happen to be, because there is no saving it for back home.”
