Haim recap a wild year on “Christmas Wrapping 2020”

They transformed an ’80s new wave Christmas track into a 2020 Hanukkah anthem.

Haim have released a feel-good Hanukkah version of the Waitresses’ 1981 hit “Christmas Wrapping”—which might be the most relatable song of the year.

On “Christmas Wrapping 2020 (all I want for Christmas is a vaccine),” Haim present a wide-ranging recount of a year defined by the COVID-19 pandemic and the US election. The trio enlisted playwright Jeremy O Harris to help craft the humorous lyrics and recruited Thundercat for bass duties, and made a goofy video to accompany the song.

Despite joking about the monotony and difficulty of 2020, Haim have had a banner year. They released their third album Women in Music Pt III in June after a run of advance singles such as “The Steps,” which earned them a Grammy nod for Best Rock Performance as part of a historic all-female slate of nominees.
