Courtney Barnett announces new album with “Rae Street”

‘Things Take Time, Take Time’ is set to arrive November 12.

Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett has dropped a brand-new music video for “Rae Street,” and announced her third solo album Things Take Time, Take Time.

“Well time is money and money is no man’s friend / And all eyes on the pavement / I’m not gonna touch ya, don’t worry so much about it,” she sings on its reassuring refrain. In the music video, Barnett goes about her business in a town populated by other versions of herself.

“Rae Street” is the first single from Things Take Time, Take Time, Barnett’s third solo studio album and the follow-up to 2018’s Tell Me How You Really Feel. It is set to drop on November 12 on Milk! Records.

Barnett wrote Things Take Time, Take Time over the course of two years. The album was recorded in late 2020 and early 2021 with producer Stella Mozgawa, who’s also the drummer of Warpaint.

Earlier this year, Barnett covered Tim Hardin’s “Reason to Believe” with Vagabon. And in 2020, she joined Phoebe Bridgers to remotely cover Gillian Welch’s “Everything is Free.” She also dropped the standalone single “Everyone Here Hates You” for Record Store Day 2019.
