Clairo announces new album with “Blouse”

Lorde contributed backing vocals to the emotional ballad.

Clairo has dropped “Blouse,” the first single from her upcoming sophomore album, Sling.

The track is a potently emotional ballad, and features backing vocals from Lorde—returning the favor after Clairo contributed backing vocals to her comeback single, “Solar Power.”

“Why do I tell you how I feel / When you’re too busy looking down my blouse? / It’s something I wouldn’t say out loud / If touch could make them hear, then touch me now,” Clairo wistfully sings on the heartbreaking refrain.

Clairo revealed on Twitter that the album was inspired by her pet dog, Joanie. “By caring for her, it forced me to face my own thoughts about parenthood and what it would mean to me,” she explained.

Clairo’s debut album, Immunity, was released in 2019. Previously, she appeared in a music video for her collaboration with Mura Musa, “I Don’t Think I Can Do This Again,” and teamed up with SG Lewis for “Throwaway.”
