After five years of waiting, Arctic Monkeys finally return to put out their sixth full-length, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. But if you’re expecting to hear the same sound from the band’s last record, AM—don’t.
It’s darker, muskier and sounds like Alex Turner and his mates have done a lot of growing up. Think less leather jackets, and more velvet suits.
Known for their heavy guitar riffs, the band dial back on their signature rock ’n’ roll disposition and scale up on the keys and bass to produce more jazz-inflected, spacey tunes. There are also hints of David Bowie, too. Notable tracks include “Four Out of Five” and “American Sports.”
