Cat Power details new album, ‘Wanderer’

The follow-up to 2012’s ‘Sun’ is arriving soon.

It’s been awhile—six years to be exact—since we last heard from singer-songwriter Cat Power. But rest easy, because we’re expecting a new album from her real soon. Titled Wanderer, her tenth studio album is set to drop on October 5 and features 11 self-produced tracks. The record is a collection of songs the singer had written over the years.

“The course of my life has taken in this journey—going from town to town, with my guitar, telling my tale, with reverence to the people who did this generations before me,” she said. “Folk singers, blues singers, and everything in-between. They were all wanderers, and I am lucky to be among them.”

Along with the announcement, Cat Power also dropped a short preview of her new music. The clip follows her trekking through the desert as a gospel-infused folk tune plays. “Oh, wanderer / I’ve been wondering / If your brown eyes still have color, could I see?” she asks.

The project also includes the song, “Woman,” a collab with Lana Del Rey.
