English rock duo Blood Red Shoes have released their latest single “Howl,” from their forthcoming LP, Get Tragic.
The track, which follows “Mexican Dress,” is an intense, danceable return which leans on both funky and electronic elements.
“It’s about realizing that [for] everything in life you have to take charge of yourself and not wait around for someone else to do it,” vocalist Laura-Mary Carter said in a statement. “When we worked on it we were partying to a lot of ’80s Prince and Janet Jackson. I can hear that influence on it, definitely very new territory for us!”
The band will release their fifth album, Get Tragic, on V2/Jazz Life on January 25. In the meantime, listen to “Howl” below:
