Arctic Monkeys release “Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino” video

We finally get to explore the mysterious titular resort.

We now know what the Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino looks like, thanks to the stylish video that Arctic Monkeys have released for their album’s title track.

Shot mostly at the Peppermill Resort in Reno, Nevada, the visual sees frontman Alex Turner tour the neon-lit resort, a visual love letter to the works of Ridley Scott and Stanley Kubrick.

During his lonely stay at the hotel, he relaxes in a jacuzzi, toys around with a Batmobile exhibit, and gets his hands on a scooter which he uses to explore the desert outskirts.

The Ben Chappell- and Aaron Brown-directed clip follows the same camerawork and style of AM’s previous video, “Four Out of Five”—not to mention the visual motifs of the horses, jarring neon lights and film cameras. Both videos are also interrupted mid-way by an eerie siren that cranks up the tension.
