Earlier this year, Arctic Monkeys released their sixth full-length, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. Now, they’ve released an 11-minute short film that chronicles how the album was made.
In Warp Speed Chic, director Ben Chappell plays both documentarian and arthouse filmmaker. There are shots of the band in a cluttered studio with longtime producer James Ford, where frontman Alex Turner sits at the drumkit and piano to direct the spacey, sauntering sound that divided fans upon the album’s release. But there’s also film footage of the band just walking, hanging out, shooting pool and more.
Besides the new film, Arctic Monkeys have also announced the release of a seven-inch single for the album’s title track, with a B-side titled “Anyways.” It will be out November 30.
