Emo rockers American Football have released a new record, their second album in three years.
Released on Friday, their third eponymous LP boasts all the sonic flourishes fans have come to expect from the quartet, and then some. Despite its short eight-song tracklist, the album clocks in at 47 minutes—their longest record to date.
Hayley Williams aids the band in their introspection as they flip the title of a Pink Floyd classic on “Uncomfortably Numb.” Elizabeth Powell and Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell follow in kind, the former’s track, “I Can’t Feel You,” underpinned by a syncopated drum beat that drives the band in a new, stronger sonic direction over the more atmospheric beats of their prior recordings.
