All Time Low have shared a fresh version of their blackbear collab “Monsters,” now featuring Demi Lovato.
The rework dropped alongside an animated lyric video that builds on the song’s original visual. In the clip, a cartoon depiction of All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth encounters various pop-culture monstrosities, from aliens to zombified versions of his fellow band members.
Later on, a gaunt, vampiric blackbear spits hard-hitting lines, and is eventually joined by Lovato who harmonizes with Gaskarth for an explosive final chorus. “Why do all the monsters come out at night? / Why do we sleep where we want to hide? / Why do I run back to you like I don’t mind if you fuck up my life?” they belt on the track.
According to Gaskarth, Lovato and All Time Low have been longtime friends and had looked forward to a partnership such as this for some time. “We’re really excited that she was down to lend her absolutely incredible voice to this song as we reimagine it and continue to celebrate all the ways it’s connecting with fans around the world,” he shared in a statement.
Back in April, All Time Low released their latest record Wake Up, Sunshine following the release of album cut “Trouble is” and a new MV for “Getaway Green.” Lovato, on the other hand, previously released “Commander in Chief” calling out President Trump’s mishandling of the COVID-19 crisis, as well as break-up anthem “Still Have Me” and Marshmello collab “OK Not to Be OK” for World Suicide Prevention Day.
