American rock band Alkaline Trio have released a surprise three-song EP in the wake of a tour cancelation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Alkaline Trio were due to go on tour with Bad Religion this month, but the North American jaunt was called off in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“With the tour postponed and the current state of the world, we feel and hope that some new music will help people transcend the uncertainty and possible fear they might be feeling, if even for a few minutes,” frontman Matt Skiba said in a press statement.
Skiba added, “Music has always had a way of helping us all cope with unpleasant times. We can only hope that ours can do the same for our fans on some level. We hope you enjoy the songs.”
The Alkaline Trio release, simply titled EP, consists of “Minds Like Mindfield,” “Radio Violence” and the slower, acoustic guitar-led “Smokestack.” This release comes two years after Alkaline Trio’s last album, Is This Thing Cursed?.
