Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna has teamed up with British rapper Little Simz on a brand-new single, “Pink Youth.”
The funk-inspired track distils messages of female empowerment into a feel-good, groovy anthem. The R&B crooner’s soulful vocals complement Simz’s smooth yet confident delivery. “We found love in a place that don’t sell it with no help / Give me space, no credit, I don’t need it / Life goes and oh, well my soul reflects gold / Don’t try to let go,” she raps on the second verse.
“Pink Youth” also received an animated video treatment. Both artists star in the clip as cyberpunk vigilantes on a mission to retrieve a magical cube, so they may restore color to their monochromatic dystopia.
“Pink Youth” follows the release of “Forevermore” and the G-Eazy-assisted “Blank Marquee.” All the tracks are set to appear on Yuna’s upcoming album, Rogue, which will also feature collabs with the likes of Jay Park, Masego and Tyler, the Creator. It arrives next Friday via Verve Records.
