Usher has released a video for his new song “Bad Habits.”
On the track, the R&B veteran bemoans all the regrettable missteps that have prevented him from developing a fruitful relationship with a woman, from one-night stands to cheating. “I love love, I’m just bad at it,” he sings on the chorus. “I keep messin’ up my love life.”
The video opens with a confrontation between Usher and his partner, who seems to have caught him engaging in something suspicious on his phone. It then transitions into a smoothly choreographed showcase of Usher’s dance chops, as he tries to win her back over.
“Bad Habits” is Usher’s first release following the July single “I Cry,” which fundraised for Black-owned businesses and community groups. In April, he reunited with “Yeah!” collaborators Lil Jon and Ludacris on “Sex Beat,” and in March dropped a video for “Don’t Waste My Time,” his 2019 collaboration with Ella Mai.
Whether “Bad Habits” appears on the long-teased sequel to Usher’s hit 2004 album Confessions remains to be seen. Usher’s last project was 2018’s A, which was a surprise collaboration with Zaytoven. Earlier this year, he teased the release of Confessions 2 in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres.
