Watch Pink Sweat$’s heartwarming video for “Drama”

Now this is what you call a glo-up.

Pink Sweat$ has unveiled the video for “Drama,” a cut from his recently released debut EP, Volume 1.

Directed by David Karp and Courtney Loo, the colorful video stars the up-and-coming singer-songwriter as a bucktoothed, bowl-haired kid named Hubert who gets tormented by neighborhood bullies. Taking cues from coming-of-age films like She’s All That and Teen Witch, our protagonist undergoes a magical makeover and wakes up feeling more confident than ever. “Real ones surrounding me / Good vibes is all I need / Yeah I know they wanna see me low / For reasons I won’t know,” he croons over a gentle fingerpicking arrangement.

In an interview with The FADER, which also premiered the track, Sweat$ explained that the idea behind the music video was to “give people confidence to just be themselves.” “Everyone takes time to mature,” he said. “But you should never doubt that you can become the person you strive to be.”
