Watch Chloe x Halle’s cozy NPR ‘Tiny Desk’ performance

The sisters turned the studio performance into a homely gig.

Chloe x Halle are the latest guests to appear on NPR’s Tiny Desk series, where they performed cuts off their Grammy-nominated album Ungodly Hour.

Though the performance was filmed in a studio, the Bailey sisters managed to transform the space into a homely setting with “personal memorabilia supplied by their mother,” NPR notes in the YouTube description. The duo sang a total of five songs, which kicked off with “Don’t Make it Harder on Me,” followed by “Baby Girl” and the summer hit, “Do it.”

Before jumping into their penultimate song, “Ungodly Hour,” Chloe reflected on the “absolutely bonkers” year that is 2020. “For those moments where you kinda feel less than and you’re not good enough … that’s why we wrote this song. … Whatever happens, we’ll be OK. And this is our world,” she said. The sisters wrapped up the set with a dramatic rendition of “Wonder What She Thinks of Me,” which is competing for Best Traditional R&B Performance at the Grammys.

Ungodly Hour received three Grammy nods last month, including Best Progressive R&B Album and Best R&B Song for “Do it.” In September, the single got an all-girl remix featuring Doja Cat, City Girls and fellow Tiny Desk alum Mulatto.
