Ty Dolla $ign has nabbed a star-studded line-up for his brand-new single, “Ego Death,” featuring Kanye West and FKA twigs.
Ty opens up on the single about the loss of his sweetheart, which caused an “ego death.” “Murdered my ego when you walked away / It hurt my ego when you walked away / Gave you my all, that wouldn’t make you stay,” he sings over an electro-hop beat, which he co-produced with Skrillex.
West, who just released his Travis Scott-assisted single “Wash Us in the Blood,” hops in after with a fiery verse that takes aim at the Super Bowl halftime show. “Lotta people be thinkin’, but I’m just a sayer / Artists can’t perform the Super Bowl, but it’s okay for the players? / All these half-way movements need a whole lot improvement,” he spits. Meanwhile, twigs handles the song’s dreamy outro.
“‘Ego Death’ is a very special record. It’s always an honor working with my brother Ye,” Ty said in a press statement. “He’s a genius and we make incredible records every single time we link up. Skrillex and twigs came in and blessed us with the magic that only they can put on the record.”
“Ego Death” is the latest collaboration from Ty, who previously teamed up with Jacob Collier, Leven Kali, dvsn, Lucky Daye and more. Last September, the crooner released a video for this song, “Hottest in the City.”
