A week after announcing an upcoming collab with J Cole, Ty Dolla $ign has come through with the new track, “Purple Emoji.”

“My brada [Cole] and I came up with this jam a few months back in NYC and off top I knew it was the first one I wanted y’all to hear,” Ty said on Instagram of the MXXWLL-produced track. Ty’s slow-jam crooning fits this passionate ballad perfectly, and Cole, who doesn’t usually step into the R&B lane, excels beside him.

The duo have also been hinting at a music video on social media, so we’ll be looking out for that in the near future. “Purple Emoji” is also the first song off Ty’s forthcoming album, which will be the follow-up to 2017’s Beach House 3.
