Ty Dolla $ign enlists Mustard, Jhené Aiko for “By Yourself”

A cut from his upcoming album, ‘Featuring Ty Dolla $ign.’

Ty Dolla $ign has teamed up with Jhené Aiko for “By Yourself,” produced by Mustard.

On the bouncy track, which samples Billie Piper’s 1998 cover of Changing Face’s “GHETTOUT,” Ty preaches the importance of being independent. “You ain’t never ’fraid to be by yourself / You don’t need a man, you do it by yourself,” he croons.

Aiko jumps in later with a confident verse where she declares she did it “all by myself.” “You know I do this shit on my own / Pockets long, I’m so grown, I’m so godly / Even when alone, I’m never lonely / Only call him up when I am horny,” she sings.

“By Yourself” is set to appear on Ty’s upcoming album, Featuring Ty Dolla $ign. “I decided to name my third studio album Featuring Ty Dolla $ign because there is truly something for everybody on this album,” he said in a press release. “It features some of my most talented friends, on some of the best music I’ve made in my career.”

“I’ve been blessed with the gift of collaborating,” the crooner added. “Not every artist can collaborate with another artist and have the final product be something incredible. Many people have said that when you see a song that says, ‘featuring Ty Dolla $ign,’ you know it’s gonna be fire. As humbled as I am when I hear that, I can’t say I disagree.”

Besides “By Yourself,” other songs expected to appear on Featuring Ty Dolla $ign include “Expensive” (with Nicki Minaj) and “Ego Death” (with Kanye West, FKA twigs and Skrillex). The record arrives this Friday, October 23.
