Following the recent tragic deaths of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, Tinashe has released the original version of “Hopscotch,” as a tribute to the father-daughter pair.

“The original version of this song, re-released for Kobe,” Tinashe wrote in the track’s description on SoundCloud. “Rest in power Gigi and Kobe Bryant.” The new rendition, dubbed “KOBE LA version,” acknowledges the late athlete with lyrics like, “LA like I’m Kobe / Been ballin’ kinda nice.”

Bryant and his daughter died last Sunday along with seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. Artists such as Kanye West, Chance The Rapper, Taylor Swift, Pharrell Williams, 2 Chainz and more took to social media to mourn the sudden passing of the basketball star.

Tinashe isn’t the only artist to honor Bryant: Earlier this week, Bad Bunny released a new song, “6 Rings,” as a tribute to the Los Angeles Lakers icon. “Hopscotch” initially arrived on Tinashe’s 2019 album, Songs for You. The record included features from MAKJ, Ms Banks, 6LACK and G-Eazy.
