Tinashe releases new song, “Like I Used to”

Release more bops and less drama, please.

Tinashe’s been all up in the news lately for her rocky relationship with NBA player Ben Simmons. But she’s ready to let the music do the talking again, dropping a brand-new track, “Like I Used to.”

It’s a confident R&B cut from the singer, who only recently released her long-awaited (and repeatedly-delayed) sophomore album, Joyride. The lyrics on the song make it clear that Tinashe’s doing just fine on her own. “I got my own cash / I do what I want to / I might do the whole dash / Drive it like I want to,” she sings with swag on the opening verse.

“Like I Used to” gives Tinashe the chance to tell her side of things without the media getting involved. “Never be the same / Won’t trust you like I used to,” she purrs over the bouncy production. “Lay my top back, throw my problems on my new coupe.” Keep doing you, girl.
