Tiana Major9 is the latest artist to deliver a remote set for NPR’s Tiny Desk performance series.
The stripped-down setup—staged in the singer’s living room, with three backing musicians on bass, guitar and keyboard—allowed the British crooner’s voice to shine. She performed four songs from her EP At Sixes and Sevens, which was released August—including “Collide,” the song she and Atlanta rap duo EarthGang contributed to the soundtrack of Queen & Slim.
Major9 shed some light on the Tiny Desk shoot on Instagram, revealing that it capped off an intense period of COVID-19 lockdown. She explained, “We shot this as soon as C*vid Season 1, EP 1 was coming to its finale in my very first apartment in London. So many tears were shed, there were MANY sleepless nights but most importantly, I made soooo many memories in that house. I’m excited to come back to the UK and make new ones!”
