Teyana Taylor brings back ‘Soul Train’ for ‘Ellen’ performance

A soulful rendition of her latest single, “Issues/Hold On.”

Last Week, Teyana Taylor transported The Ellen DeGeneres Show back to the ’70s with her Soul Train-inspired performance of “Issues/Hold On.”

Introduced by an impersonator of the late Don Cornelius, Soul Train’s beloved host, Taylor took to the stage in a body-hugging, gold jumpsuit. She dived right into her performance, her strong vocals supported by a live band and backup singers. DeGeneres joined in at the end of the song, breaking out her groovy dance moves, before surprising Taylor with a plaque for her gold-certified single, “Gonna Love Me.”

“Issues/Hold On” is a cut from Taylor’s critically acclaimed sophomore album, KTSE, which includes tracks like “WTP” and “Hurry,” featuring Kanye West.
