SZA returns with “Hit Different” featuring Ty Dolla $ign

With production from The Neptunes.

SZA has returned with a new single, “Hit Different” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

The Neptunes-produced track is the first solo release from Solana Rowe in a while. SZA dropped her last album Ctrl in 2017, and has since been involved in several other high-profile collaborations such as “The Other Side” with Justin Timberlake for the Trollz movie and “Power is Power” with Travis Scott and The Weeknd for the Game of Thrones companion album.

On “Hit Different,” SZA ruminates on a love that’s dysfunctional but still undeniable: “Somethin’ wrong with me, I like the way you screw your face up / Trigger me right when I need it / You wrong but I can’t get along without you / It’s a shame and I can’t blame myself, keep on lovin’ you / You do it different.”

SZA herself directed the accompanying music video, in which she dances surrounded by scrap vehicles, on bales of hay and in a barn while covered in what looks like blood. It also concludes with SZA singing an unreleased fan favorite, “Good Days.”
