Sonder—the R&B collective comprising Brent Faiyaz and producers Dpat and Atu—have reunited for a brand-new song, “Nobody But You.”
Featuring Jorja Smith, the single is the group’s first release since their 2019 song “What You Heard.” On the latest collab, Faiyaz and Smith duet effortlessly over an acoustic guitar, their silky smooth vocals gliding over one another as they recall a dramatic break-up. “Don’t think you cared about me,” Smith sings, to which Faiyaz replies, “Oh girl, I care about you.”
Sonder dropped their debut EP Into in 2017. It featured seven melancholic tracks, including the moody hit “Care.” The project’s reunion marks a busy 2021 for Faiyaz so far: he released a collab with Tyler, the Creator in February and later returned with “Eden.” In March, he released “Show U Off” in honor of Women’s History Month.
In conjunction with Sonder’s latest release, the trio also released a 13-minute clip titled “Too Late to Die Young,” which features a mix of six new songs—hinting at a bigger Sonder project in the pipeline. Watch it here:
