SiR performs ‘Chasing Summer’ medley on NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk’

He performed “New Sky,” “The Recipe” and more.

SiR recently dropped by NPR’s famed Tiny Desk to perform a soulful medly of songs from his Chasing Summer LP.

The Top Dawg Entertainment signee kicked things off with a jazzy rendition of “The Recipe.” After, the crooner segued into the joyous song “New Sky,” featuring guest vocals by his mother Jacquelyn Farris, who stood in for Kadhja Bonet.

About halfway through his performance, SiR stopped his performance to reveal some somber news, announcing that he’d lost his infant godson just a few days prior. “We’re doing this for him,” he said. “It took a lot for me to be here today… but we’re gonna get through this.”

SiR then treated the NPR audience to two more Chasing Summer cuts: “Wires in the Way” and “John Redcorn.” The record, which arrived last September, also featured appearances from Sabrina Claudio, Jill Scott, Zacari and more.
