Shenna’s “Conversation” video captures both sides of romance

The singer’s latest single finally gets a visual.

Shenna’s latest single “Conversation” has received a rather compelling video treatment.

Directed by Anthony King, the clip follows the R&B up-and-comer cruising through a romantic, autumnal landscape with a mysterious man. But the relationship between the red-headed songbird and her man isn’t as rosy as the dreamy setting. “Let’s have a conversation / Just you and I / Tell me who I am to you / Got things we should define,” she sings.

Switching between color and black-and-white shots, the video gives two different points of view on the romance: The vivid and more striking scenes belong to Shenna, while the monochrome cuts are filtered through her lover’s eyes. The latter, as she explained to Billboard, captures the outlook of someone who’s “distracted by technology” and less invested in the relationship.

“I feel that people are so distracted by media and technology that we are not having real face-to-face conversations anymore because of the many distractions around us,” she said.
