Shelley—formerly known as DRAM, of “Broccoli” fame—has reintroduced himself with a new moniker and a fresh song “Exposure.”
For the song, the R&B singer joined forces with producers Julian “JuJu” Nixon and Essancy. The soulful, sensual ballad is about the public exposure Shelley gets as a celebrity and how it affects his relationships. The same themes are reflected in the accompanying video, which features Shelley as a walking television set.
“Exposure” is the artist’s first solo single since 2019 and his first under his real name, Shelley Marshaun Massenburg-Smith. “After the release of my debut album, Big Baby DRAM, I’ve worked on so many things, but most importantly I was working on me,” he said.
“Ever since I was introduced to the world with ‘Cha Cha,’ my career has taken me on a journey… I was moving with no breaks, because that’s how life was coming to me. So, I took some time to focus on my health, voice and growth; focus on me. Now it’s time for everyone to meet me: Shelley.”
