Samm Henshaw goes to “Church” in new MV

Earthgang feature on the funky track.

You better preach because Samm Henshaw has released the exuberant, soulful anthem, “Church,” featuring Atlanta duo Earthgang.

The smile-inducing song features handclaps and heavy bass with back up vocals from a gospel choir. “Wake up, wake up, wish I could hear you right now / Somebody come and tell this lady cool down / Wake up and get yourself to church / Yeah,” Henshaw sings on the chorus.

The funky track was released alongside a quirky video that follows a mother and son who are late for Sunday morning church. Henshaw also performs the song live with a church choir during the clip’s closing credits.

“[The song] is basically about the struggle between me and my parents when I was a teenager,” Henshaw told the FADER. “I love my sleep so them attempting to wake me up to go [to] Church on a Sunday morning was a constant battle.”
