Queen Naija releases debut full-length, ‘missunderstood’

With features from Kiana Ledé, Lucky Daye, Russ and more.

Queen Naija has made her highly-anticipated debut with missunderstood.

The 18-track record includes appearances by fellow R&B singers such as like Kiana Ledé, Lucky Daye and Jacquees. In addition, the LP boasts assists from rappers like Mulatto, Lil Durk, Russ, Pretty Vee and Toosii. Naija previously teased the album with “Pack Lite,” “Love Language” and “Butterflies Pt 2.”

Naija explained that the new album was her way of reintroducing herself to the world, following her 2018 self-titled EP. “It’s the debut, and I just basically wanted to peel off more layers to who I am. I wanted people to get to know me more, get to like my sound,” she told Apple Music. “I really just wanted to mark my place here in the R&B world.”

“I’m opening up to certain things, like about certain things in my life that people don’t really know about,” she added. “And I want to bring that connection back, especially since I’ve been away from YouTube for so long, in an artistic way. And also, it’s just I’ve grown. My sound has grown.”

Naija also previously released a Teyana Taylor-directed video treatment for “Pack Lite,” as well as a Wale remix of “Butterflies Pt 2.” She also teamed up with Tee Grizzley on the emotional song “Mr Officer.”
