Queen Naija frolics on the beach in “Butterflies” video

Looking like a queen, as always.

As part of the Vevo Lift series, Queen Naija has shared a stripped-down performance of “Butterflies,” a highlight from her recent self-titled debut EP.

But unlike the other musicians featured in the series, the YouTube star-turned-singer took things to the next level by performing on the beach. Filmed at the picturesque El Matador beach in Malibu, the video depicts the rising R&B songbird in a flowy, white dress as she saunters barefoot down the rocky strip, accompanied by a guitarist.

“And I just wanna hold you all night long / Whenever I’m around you, nothing’s wrong,” she belts on the chorus with the sound of gentle waves crashing in the background. The setting is simple, but it does the job of putting her vocals front and center.

Queen Naija kicks off her North American tour later this month in Richmond, Virginia. Other cities on the list include Toronto, Chicago and her hometown of Detroit. More info here.
